NPCC Knowledge: Ceremonial Parade (Added after New Town QuizCom)


Procedures for Ceremonial Parade
Function
1. Official Opening of New School/Building
2. Founders' Day, Speech Day, School Anniversary
3. National Day Celebration
4. Sports Day, etc

Location
1. Car Park
2. Parade Square

No. of Contingent
1. Only Guard-Of-Honour Contingent
2. GOH Contingent and Supporting Contingent

No. of Participants in each Contingent
1. Guard-Of-Honour Contingent
- Minimum 30 ; Maximum 42
- The contingent should be formed by multiples of 6
2. Supporting Contingents
- Number should be less than GOH contingent
- School Band (if any) - Unlimited

Parade Personnel
1. Parade Commander (Either be holding the same rank as the highest-ranking participants or is the one holding the highest rank)
2. Parade 2IC
3. Contingent Commander
4. Parade Markers
- Two Parade Markers are required
- One to give command to 'eyes right' ; other one to give command to 'eyes front' while March Past
- When necessary, parade markers are also required to open the car door for the reviewing officer

Attire
1. GOH Contingent
- Ceremonial Uniform
- All should wear full uniform
2. Supporting Contingent (All in full uniform)

Weapons
1. Guard-Of-Honour
- In Ceremonial Uniform (No. 1)
  > Sword (Parade Commander/holding a CI rank and above
  > Rifle with sling (Cadets)
- Working Dress
  > Drill Cane (Parade Commander/Supernumerary)
  > Rifle with sling/Baton (Cadets)
2. Supporting Contingents
- Cane or free hand (Contingent Commander)
- Baton or Free hand (Cadets)

Parade Formation and the Position of the Parade Personnel
1. On the Parade
- Guard-Of-Honour Contingent with Parade Commander and a GOH Contingent
- Supporting Contingent with one Contingent Commander each
- Guard-Of-Honour Contingent with Parade Commander and Parade 2IC and a GOH Contingent
- Supporting Contingent with one Contingent Commander each
- Guard-Of-Honour Contingent with Parade Commander and Parade 2IC and 2 GOH Contingents
- Supporting Contingent with one Contingent Commander each

Salutes
-Given to only:
a. Principal (Opt.)
b. MOE Representatives (Given but band does not play)
c. Reviewing Officers (VIPs - Band will play the "General Salute")
   > Only given a second General Salute if there is no march past

*The command "Hormat Panglima Hor-Mat" is only given to the Reviewing Officer who is a Member of Parliament or above
*The command "Hormat Polis Hor-Mat" is only given to the Reviewing Officer whom is a Police Officer holding the rank of Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner

March On
Supporting Contingents will march on first followed by the GOH. Action is to be taken by the PC/Parade 2IC. Contingent Commanders are to march beside their respective contingents.

Dressing
1. Guard-Of-Honour Contingent
- Close order in 3 ranks, shoulder dressing (For inspection of front rank only)
- Open order in 2 ranks, elbow dressing (For inspection of both ranks)
2. Supporting Contingents
Close order, shoulder dressing (Arm's Length) 

Handing Over of Parade to Parade Commander
Parade 2IC who is in charge of marching on the supporting contingent will hand over the parade to the Parade Commander. Parade Commander will proceed with the rest of the parade and ceremony. However, this is optional. 

Inspection
- Maximum of 4 people including Guest-Of-Honour
- The PC should be walking beside and slightly behind the reviewing officer while keeping in step
- At the end of the inspection, the Parade Commander is to stop immediately after the last person and wait or the Guest-of-Honour to stand in front of him/her before saluting and thanking him
- It is optional for Parade Markers to lead Reviewing Party inspection

March Past
- Parade Commanders and Contingent Commanders to lead their respective contingents for The March Past
- Other than the right markers, all other personnel are to do 'eyes right'. During a big parade, the whole right rank need not do 'eyes rank'
- All Contingent Commanders to salute except for Parade Personnel with sword who will do 'eyes right'
- Parade Markers will march off after last contingent has marched past
